Extra Police On Hand At Several South Florida Schools After Threats

Extra eyes and ears on alert at South Florida schools after two students are nabbed making threats on social media days after the Michigan high school massacre. Detectives in marked and unmarked police cars are monitoring several schools after a 17-year-old Stoneman Douglas High School student is nabbed last week for threatening to shoot up the school and a 15-year-old is nabbed overnight for making a threat to Miami Senior High. Miami-Dade School Police Chief Edwin Lopez says blames the uptick in threats on copy cat attacks after Michigan. The 17-year-old is charged with one count of writing a threat to conduct a mass shooting, the 15-year-old is charged with a felony count of written threats to kill or do bodily harm. Parents are being urged to constantly check of their kids' social media sites.
