Florida’s coronavirus trend continued to decrease for a 14th straight day on Wednesday. The Florida Department of Health reported 4,394 new cases. Also, over 9 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This includes over 6.5 million who’ve completed a vaccine series.
The state’s Local Government Efficiency Task Force, created under a Florida law passed last year, will issue its first report to the state on June 1st. The Task Force’s report will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of local governments across the state issuing recommendations. Areas studied include the handling of business taxes, elections, liabilities, meetings, pensions, and reporting.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement completed its investigation into the $100 million Michael Bloomberg pledged to spend in Florida during the 2020 election cycle to defeat President Trump. Specifically in question, was money allocated to pay off the outstanding fines of former felons for the purpose of registering them to vote as Democrats. The FDLE closed their investigation clearing Bloomberg of breaking any Florida laws.
Nova Southeastern University, which previously announced a proof of vaccinations would be required to attend on-campus education in the fall, dropped the mandate citing Florida’s new law banning proof of COVID-19 vaccinations for services.
