Swimmer Rescued After Being Swept Out To Sea In Boca Raton

Emergency crews have rescued a swimmer pulled out to sea by a strong rip current.

Witnesses told Boca Raton Fire Rescue that a man jumped off the Boca Raton Inlet jetty in an effort to swim across, but was taken out to sea by the current.

A retired Ocean Rescue captain spotted the man about 300 yards out but the water was too choppy to get to him.

A fire rescue boat and police marine unit, along with Ocean Rescue, managed to get the swimmer, who ended up about 500 yards off the coast.

Paramedics evaluated the swimmer who appeared to be fine.
