Harris Considered Front Runner For Biden's Number Two

A one-time political rival has the best chance of being on the ticket with Joe Biden this fall.

According to Politico, California Senator Kamala Harris is leading the pack of a dozen women who are being vetted for the role.

The chief rival for Harris on the ticket may be Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who also ran a failed bid for the Democratic nomination.

According to Politico:

"Biden and Harris have spoken privately several times, and a growing contingent of operatives inside and around the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign have been making it clear they want her as his pick. Influential donors are joining in the push, seeing the daughter of immigrants from India and Jamaica as the most logical choice to balance a ticket led by a white man in his late 70s. Some of the party’s biggest benefactors, including those who went months rarely hearing from Harris, said they have seen an uptick in contacts from her and people on her behalf."

But Harris hit Biden hard on-stage during several debates, and it's unclear if she hurt her chances of joining the ticket.

Biden is expected to announce his running mate this summer.
