Shocking Video Shows Accident Impact From Inside School Bus

The Ohio State Highway Patrol released a heart-stopping video from a school bus accident that occurred last year. The devastating crash happened on December 19, 2019, when a Ford Mustang blew through a red light in Perry County and plowed into the bus, which was carrying 25 students.

The video shows the students getting tossed into the air like rag dolls and slamming into the ceiling as the bus flipped over due to the impact of the crash. The bus driver remained calm and instructed the students to try to escape through the windows and emergency exits. Eight students and the 74-year-old bus driver were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mustang, identified Joseph Thornton, was also hospitalized with serious injuries, which included a broken back. Police said that he was driving with a suspended license. It is unclear if he was cited or if he will face other charges. The Perry County Prosecutor's office is reviewing the case.
