Jussie Smollett Is In Police Custody Facing Charges, Due In Court Today

Empire actor Jussie Smollett has reportedly turned himself in to Chicago Police custody and is being charged for filing a false police report over claims he was the victim of a racist and homophobic assault.

A Cook County grand jury indicted him on the felony charge today after detectives presented their evidence.

Smollett claimed that in Chicago last month he was beaten by two people who yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him, but recent reports suggest he staged that incident.

Smollett is due in court today. Some of the charges could bring prison time.
