Florida's Attorney General is targeting two state agencies for not opening investigations into claims of voter fraud in two South Florida counties.
In letters sent Sunday to both the commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Secretary of State Ken Detzner, Pam Bondi said she was “deeply troubled” after calls from Gov. Rick Scott for an investigation were not followed.
“Your duty to investigate this matter is clear,” Bondi wrote to FDLE commissioner Rick Swearingen. “I am directing you to take the necessary steps to promote public safety and to assure that our state will guarantee integrity in our election process.”
The FDLE, which communicated with the State Department that they have no allegations of fraud at this time, is an independent agency and is not required by law to follow any directives from Bondi or her office.
