Authorities say a total of eight individuals --six children and two adults -- were injured Wednesday when a bus for an after-school program crashed into a pickup truck in Fort Lauderdale.

A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Department said the crash happened about 6 p.m. at Northwest 19th Street and Northwest 15th Avenue.

Paramedics took six people to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Two others were taken to Plantation General Hospital.

According to officials, one adult and one child were seriously hurt, while the other injuries were minor.
