One Dead After Early Morning Crash, Fire On Miami-Dade Roadway

A Monday morning car crash and fire has a left one person dead and a section of one Southwest Miami-Dade roadway shut down.

At the scene at Krome Avenue just, north of Southwest 8th Street, a car was scene flipped on its side and another destroyed by flames just before 7:30 a.m.

The crash site was not far from a sign along Krome Avenue that boasts of "0 fatalities this year."

Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the two vehicles collided. According to authorities, the car that flipped hit a tree. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

Both people inside the car that caught fire got out, with the driver being taken to the hospital in stable condition. According to authorities, the passenger was not hurt.

The northbound lanes remain closed while heavy delays are occurring on the southbound side.
