Southwest 8th street (Tamiami Trail) may re-open this weekend....
The roadway has been closed since last week when the Florida International University Pedestrian bridge collapsed, killing six people.
The Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol say the closed section could re-open either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, but no later than Monday.
Drivers are asked for continued patience as officials finish final repairs on the pavement. There are traffic signs all around the area, directing motorists to the correct destinations.
FHP also indicated they are continue to help the flow of traffic through the weekend with the Dade County Youth Fair and other events across Miami-Dade county.
