Does The Florida GOP Wants To Squash Labor Unions??

A committee in the Florida House is voting to drive another nail into the coffin of Florida labor unions.

HB 1023, drafted by State Rep. Scott Plakon (and co-sponsored by Matt Gaetz), would allegedly crack down on union leaders who falsely claim to represent more workers than they actually do.

It would also impose new rules on the unions that represent public employees by requiring all labor unions to “re-certify” themselves and prove they have widespread worker support before they can do much of anything.

But opposers, such as Representative Barbara Watson of Miami Gardens, say the real intent of the bill is to shut down the unions.

The union busting bill is ready for a floor vote in the house as soon as the session begins next month.
