UPDATE: Construction Worker Dead After Falling 20 Feet In NW Miami-Dade

Update 10:50 a.m.

A construction worker is dead after falling off the the Palmetto Expressway, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Officers say the victim was was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

FHP officials confirmed the man died at the hospital. His name hasn't been released.

A construction worker was injured Friday morning after falling from the Okeechobee Road bridge in Northwest Miami-Dade.

Officials say the man was working along the Palmetto Expressway, near Northwest South River Drive, when he fell. The man plummeted between 15 and 20 feet.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived to the scene and air rescue is en route to transport him to an area hospital.

The worker’s condition remains unknown.

Pieces of wood could be seen hanging from where he fell and littering the ground around him.

No traffic delays have resulted from the incident.
