Police: She Hit And Killed A 1-Year-Old, Then People Dragged And Beat Her

Authorities say a Florida woman who struck and killed a toddler was later dragged from her SUV and beaten.

A Broward Sheriff's Office news release says 1-year-old Neallie Junior Saxon III was playing with other children in a Deerfield Beach neighborhood Sunday afternoon when he wandered into the street. 

An SUV struck the toddler, knocking him to the pavement. Saxon was airlifted to a Fort Lauderdale hospital, where he was pronounced dead..

Police say the driver was going the speed limit but was possibly distracted by other children in the street.

Allegedly, she was unaware that she had hit the boy at all.

When she stopped at a nearby stop sign, several unidentified people pulled her from the SUV and began beating her.

Detectives are investigating child's death and the beating.
