Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam To Visit Broward School Tuesday

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam will visit Discovery Elementary School in Broward County Tuesday.

The agriculture commissioner says he'll serve school lunches as a part of National School Lunch week and he'll highlight the support available to students who evacuated from Puerto Rico.  Commissioner Putnam says Puerto Rican students displaced by the hurricane can get free school meals through the National School Lunch Program.

"Hurricane Maria has devastated the island of Puerto Rico and working with the USDA we have made free lunches available to these students who are now essentially homeless," said Commissioner Putnam.

Commissioner Putnam says more than 20,000 people have arrived in Florida from Puerto Rico since October 3.
