Maria May Be Moving Away, But Dangerous Rip Currents Still A Threat

With all of the devestation throughout Puerto Rico, we in South Florida are very fortunate that Hurricane Maria never touched down in our area.

However, the storm still got close to the East Coast, and those heading to the beaches in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will still feel the effects.

According to forecasters, indirect impacts are being felt in the form of dangerous rip currents at the beaches along South Florida.

Maria is now almost 1000 miles away from Miami, moving away from the United States and continuing to weaken, but a high risk of rip currents will continue.

Conditions improve this weekend, but as a cold front approaches from the north and tropical moisture moves in from the south, moderate rip currents are likely Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
