NOAA, Gov. Scott Warn Of Continued Storm Surge Threat On SoFlo

The National Hurricane Center believes Hurricane Irma will gain strength once again as it barrels toward Florida.

At a news conference in Winter Park, Gov. Rick Scott said storm surge and wind damage will have the greatest impacts on Floridians.

Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida as a life-threatening hurricane Sunday morning.

NOAA says there is imminent danger of life-threatening storm surge flooding in portions of central and southern Florida and a surge storm warning is in effect for the Florida Keys.

The greatest surge risk is along the southwest coast of Florida, according to NOAA. It warns of 10- to 15-feet of inundation above ground level.
