There's Controversy Demolishing A Historic Coconut Grove Building

Members of Miami's historic preservation board will consider Tuesday whether to save an iconic Coconut Grove building.

The new owner of the 10-story office building on South Bayshore Drive designed by architect Kenneth Treister is considering redeveloping the property.

The CEO of an investment group that purchased the building says he may want to redevelop the one-acre property, which is now surrounded by massive, glassy new condo towers, and is strenuously opposing designation, according to a report by the Miami Herald.

More than 300 people have signed a petition supporting the historic designation.
