A Fort Lauderdale man is accused of stabbing a random shopper multiple times at a Dollar Tree store in Hollywood.
Authorities say 23-year-old Ryan Lucero was arrested Saturday on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to a report by Local 10 News, Lucero used a kitchen knife that was for sale to stab a woman in the store. Lucero allegedly asked an employee if there were any knives upon entering the store.
He then allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife, went into the bathroom, removed it from its packaging and walked out of the bathroom, stabbing the first shopper he saw.
Police say the woman was stabbed in the chest, shoulder and back. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
After the stabbing, Lucero ran away, but was arrested Sunday after police said he tried to steal beer from a gas station and assaulted the clerk.
Lucero's father told police that his son suffers from psychological problems.
