USF Athlete Arrested on Charges of Battery, False Imprisonment

A University of South Florida football player is facing charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment.

USF Police say they arrested 22-year-old LaDarrius Divonta Jackson at 10:30 p.m. Monday. According to police, Jackson assaulted a female acquaintance Monday afternoon in student housing.

According to the arrest report, the victim told police Jackson forced her into a room and tried forcing her to perform a sexual act. She told police that during the attack she told Jackson "no" several times in different ways. They say the victim and Jackson are acquaintances.

Team officials released a statement saying Jackson has been removed from all team activities.

A bio on the USF football website says Jackson is from Birmingham, Alabama. He's a 6'4", 243 pound junior defensive end who played in seven games last season with three tackles.

Records do not list a defense attorney.
