New Bill Could Convict Drug Dealers of Murder

As Florida lawmakers go back to work for their 60-day legislative session Tuesday, they will begin to consider a number of proposals.

One proposed bill would allow drug dealers to be charged with murder if their customer dies of an overdose.

The bill targets synthetic drugs like fentanyl, an opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50-100 times more potent. The Florida Sheriff's Association supports House Bill 477, as well as the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.
