For years just being a permanent U.S. citizen living in South Florida was enough for many people.
Now with President Donald Trump vowing to rewrite immigration laws, "There's a lot of anxiety on a great number of peoples' part, who are permanent residents, who normally wouldn't worry. They travel. They do pretty much everything else except vote and now they are saying, 'I better get my citizenship status,'" says Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness.
He has seen - in recent months - increases in the number of people attending events like today's Know Your Rights workshop.
Last year they helped 1,500 people, and already this year they've assisted 170 during one event.
Immigration experts and lawyers are available between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Lauderhill Mall to help permanent resident fill out and file their citizenship paperwork.
